Your first class
From the front door to the goodbye song
- 01
Step 1: Arrive ten minutes early
Park by the front door, and leave your shoes and the stroller in the lobby. Your baby comes in a swim diaper and a snug swim cover.
- 02
Step 2: Say hello at the front desk
We find your name, check the class and ask about anything we should know. Medical details we ask for privately, after you enroll.
- 03
Step 3: Walk down the ramp together
You carry your baby into the pool. The water is warm, and you can take as long as you need on the steps.
- 04
Step 4: Songs and floating
The instructor sings and shows each move once. You hold your baby through every one of them.
- 05
Step 5: Toys and play
Floats, rings and a mesh bag of plain toys. Your baby is always in your arms or within reach.
- 06
Step 6: A towel and a plan
Wrap up on the bench, tell the front desk how it went, and choose a time for next week.
Who is in the water
You hold your baby the whole time
An adult is in the water with every child, and for a baby or a toddler that is you. The instructor stands in the middle of the group, shows each move and sings, and a staff member watches the water from the deck.
You, within arm's reach of your baby
Your instructor, in the middle of the group
A second grown-up, on the bench if you like

What to bring
Three things from home
A swim diaper and a snug cover
Put on before you leave home. A regular diaper does not go in the pool.
Two towels
A hooded towel for your baby and one for you.
A change of clothes
For both of you, and a bag for the wet things.
