Family policies
What families ask most, in plain words.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
In the pool, and watching
An adult is in the water with every child, within arm's reach, for the whole class. That can be a parent, a grandparent or another adult your family names, and the same person each week is easiest for a baby. The instructor leads from the middle of the group and a staff member watches from the deck. Please do not leave a child at the pool edge, on the steps or on the ramp, even for a moment.
What to wear and bring
Every baby and every toddler who is not yet using the toilet wears a swim diaper with a snug swim cover on top, put on before you come. A regular diaper does not go in the pool. A swim shirt is welcome. Grown-ups wear a swimsuit, and long hair is tied back. Bring a hooded towel for your child and one for yourself.
When to keep your child home
Please keep your child home with a fever, a stomach illness or a cold that is running, and until they have been well for a full day. If your child has had an upset stomach, we ask that you wait two days before the next class. Tell the front desk and we will move you to another class.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for a few holidays and when a storm makes the roads hard to drive, and we tell families by text and email by the morning of the class. A class we close for is made up in another class of the same age stage, when there is room.
Leaving the program
We ask for two weeks' notice before your family leaves, by text or email to the front desk. We go through any weeks that are left with you, and we never ask for a reason.
Watching class
The grown-up in the water does not need to watch from the side, and a second adult or an older brother or sister is welcome on the bench beside the deck. Please keep strollers by the cubbies. You may take a photo of your own child before or after class, and we ask that you do not record other families' children.
Screens and phones
Phones stay in a bag or a cubby while you are in the water, so both hands are for your baby. Our instructors do not take photos or videos in class unless a family has asked in writing.
